Jávea - March 2025

Thursday 20th March. Here we are. Back in Jávea and it's good to be here. There are a number of friends still here, although a lot of them will be leaving at the weekend. However, Steve, Marina, Maggie and Trevor arrived recently, so after saying hello to most people, we were off out for a quick drink down on the front at Bambola and then off to the Buddah Palace for something to eat. The weather here has been slightly better than what we had the last couple of days up in Val de Luguar, although it  is still a tad chilly here with that cool breeze.

Friday we had lunch booked in Attica which is a hotel up in the port end of Jávea which has fabulous views looking out over the harbour and beyond. We had a lovely 3 course meal and then wandered down to the port to the Corner Bar. After a coffee we left the others and headed back. We then met up with them again at the bar across the road from the campsite where Elvis was playing. Yes the rumours are true, he is alive and well and occasionally performs 😂. This was a lively evening and quite entertaining.

Saturday, Steve and I headed off to do the lighthouse walk. It was a lovely day, although it did cloud over later and became a bit cool. We stopped off at the Corner bar on our way back. A quiet evening in.

Sunday, we tried out a new restaurant, La Boheme, which again was a lovely meal and gave fabulous views out across the bay.

We then afterwards went to La Bambula to watch the flamenco dancing, which was, to be honest, pretty awlful. Also, it was pretty difficult to get a good view.

Steve and Marina are off tomorrow, making their way back home, so we said our fond farewells to them.

Monday, was a lovely day so Steve and I headed off walking Cap Prim peninsula which is a very pleasant walk and not too far.

On Tuesday, we met up with Trevor and Maggie at Bar Mercat, up in the old town for some tapas.

Wednesday, we did the first of two Montgo walks. Around the mountain, which is obviously the easiest of the two. We did it in reverse this time, ending in Denia.  It doesn't get easier, although doing it this way round means you have the hardest part at the start. So for me, I think it's best this way. As is the norm, we stopped in the gorge for our lunch with views of the sea in the distance. Very enjoyable.

In the evening, we met up with Maggie and Trevor as they are heading off tomorrow, so we had 'one for the road' in Geographic.

Thursday we walked to Cala Barraca. A gentle walk, if there is such a thing here. But it's a lovely little cove with views out to see and a little island. Often there are divers in the bay, as there was this time. It's just very peaceful here.

In the evening, we went to Pad Thai, with Pete, Jean, John, Pat, Steve and Vicki as it was Petes birthday.  A very enjoyable evening.
