Jávea - March 2025

Image
Thursday 20th March. Here we are. Back in Jávea and it's good to be here. There are a number of friends still here, although a lot of them will be leaving at the weekend. However, Steve, Marina, Maggie and Trevor arrived recently, so after saying hello to most people, we were off out for a quick drink down on the front at Bambola and then off to the Buddah Palace for something to eat. The weather here has been slightly better than what we had the last couple of days up in Val de Luguar, although it  is still a tad chilly here with that cool breeze. Friday we had lunch booked in Attica which is a hotel up in the port end of Jávea which has fabulous views looking out over the harbour and beyond. We had a lovely 3 course meal and then wandered down to the port to the Corner Bar. After a coffee we left the others and headed back. We then met up with them again at the bar across the road from the campsite where Elvis was playing. Yes the rumours are true, he is alive and wel...

Vall de Laguar - March 10

Image
Arrived in Vall de Laguar and are here for 10 days. This is a great place for walking. Hopefully the weather will pick up a bit, although we have been lucky compared to some. Tuesday we just relaxed and enjoyed the sun. But we made up for a relaxing day by doing a big walk on Wednesday. This was a 9 mile walk from where we are staying. It literally is going down a canyon to the barranca at the bottom, then back up again. Past a lovely cascading waterfall, but when we got to the pool at the bottom, we came across a lady, starkers, bathing in the cold water! That's why we have no photo! We actually went down, up, down, up, down and finally up again. But it was a lovely walk. See what I mean, it's a long way down to the bottom and to go down and up three times, is very tiring on the old legs Thursday was looking like a rainy day, so we took a walk out of the village down to the dam, but unfortunately we couldn't get to the dam as the tunnel we have to go through was flooded,...

Granada 3rd - 10th March

Image
So here we are in Granada. We are about 10 miles outside of the city, up in the Guejar Sierra. This is the view from our campsite, looking over the mountains, some of which still have snow on the top. It's surprisingly wam here for this time of year. Normally, the weather has been either too cold or wet, or both!  We are here for a week to do some walking. This is a new site for us, although we have in the past visited Granada itself. It's pretty remote here, with not a lot going on other than lots of goats everywhere. That makes me happy. It's pretty quiet too but thankfully the site has a mini shop and a bar with restaurant, which has an open log fire 😊. Tuesday we decided to visit the local viallage, taking the scenic route there, which meant going up and around and dropping into the village walking down to the main square. A typical village, with not a lot happening.  However, there are a number of walks we wish to do here, so we did a recee to find the start ...

Torrox - February 2025

Image
Tuesday - Here we are in Torrox, fancied coming here to be by the sea, since we've not seen it since we arrived. So we arrived Monday and Tuesday, was basically just a domestic day really. We did stroll down to the Costa around lunchtime and did stop for something to eat. Wednesday we headed off to Nerja for the day.  A pretty coastal town, although very busy, even at this time of year. We headed down to the sea and walked along the prom, stopping for a wonderful fish platter for lunch in the heart of the town, just off the Balcon de Europa. It was a nice day, but there was quite a breeze and it was cool in the shade, although we didn't actually get cold. It was afterall, still 18. Once we got back to Torrox, it was quite a bit warmer, so we went down to the costa and had a drink, just soaking up the sun.  Thursday we met up with our friends Brian and Jane. We strolled along the prom and then stopped for breakfast. It was lovely to see them again, and although a year has past, ...
