Haro ~ last few days!

Image
As always, we spend the last couple of days in Haro. It's has been incredibly hot here. Crazy 29/30 which we've not experienced before. Anyhow, after a long journey, on Thursday, we got here, set up and headed straight to the square for drinks and then to our favourite bar. Bar Beethoven. Which as I thought was closed! Anyhow, they have a restaurant that is opposite the bar that thankfully was open. This was our first time eating here. A nice pleasant and relaxing evening after our journey. Friday morning, we headed off for our walk along the river to the next village, Brinas. It's always an enjoyable walk, not too far, but the village is very  pretty. Sadly everything was closed, so we had to just turn around and head back to Haro. We therefore stopped at the bar on site and then in the evening, we went to Bar Beethoven. Hurrah. It was open. Love this place. Saturday we had a bit of a lazy day, just pottering around the Bodegas, buying wine and just mouching around Haro....

Valle de Leugar ~ 3rd - 11th April

Another new site. This is inland, about 15 miles from Jávea and up in the mountains. We can see Montgo easily here. It is beautiful up here, so peaceful and quiet. Slightly cooler too. This place was recommended to us by a Scottish couple we met at the start of our trip back in Navajas. It's great for cycling and walking. Well, you can forget the cycling, we are talking very steep ascents here, ok for the likes of our mate Rob, but for me and Steve, no way! We arrived on the Wednesday and went to the village for a beer or two.  Thursday was the village market that we went to, to get a few supplies.  We then did a little walk, just to get use to the immediate vicinity and get a feel for the place. The next village, Fleix, is only a couple of miles away, uphill, of course, but this was a nice stroll. We then found the start to a coulple of walks, which we intend to do. We then continued on our walk back to site and came across a restaurant that has been recommended. So we stopp...

Velez Blanco -Easter 2024

So we left the costa and moved on up into the mountains for Easter. We were prepared for it to be cold, wet and windy. Afterall, we were 1000m high in the Sierra Maria National Park.. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The village is a very nice place, with its own castle, which is currently being restored. The campsite, empty at the moment, will be busy later for Easter. However, it is a walkers location. our view from our pitch is quite stunning. Sunday, we decided to take a stroll to the Castle, which we had a look around. To be honest, there isn't much to see, but it was still nice to have a wander around. After that, we had a look around the village and stopped off for some lunch and then headed back to the campsite.  Monday, we took a walk to the next town,  Velez Rubio. This was quite a walk in and around the countryside. We eventually got there, although it had started to drizzle  but by this time, however, it was still warm and we actually managed to not get w...
