Torrox ~ 14th - March 2024

On the Friday we pottered around and then took a stroll down to Torrox Costa and strolled along the prom. We thought it seemed quite quiet, which is surprising since the campsite is pretty busy. However, it was good to have a good walk along the prom and stretch our legs after the long journey yesterday. We did stop for a little something to eat and a drink but then headed back to camp.

Saturday, we strolled up to Torrox town, to meet up with Jon & Debs. We'd arranged to meet them at lunchtime for seafood paella, which was most enjoyable. It was a rather hot day though and the walk there and back was somewhat tiring. It was good, however, to catch up with them. In the evening, we stopped off at a bar near us and watched the rugby.

Sunday we met up with Brian and Jane, who have moved back to Torrox Costa. We had a stroll along the prom and then stopped for breakfast. After this we walked to their new apartment and spent some time with them before heading back to camp. We hope to catch up with them again before we head off, although we haven't a clue when that will be or where.

Monday we headed into Nerja. We picked up the coastal path into Nerja and the main square. We stopped off for some lunch and then picked up the coast path again and headed to the furthest beach. After this we strolled back, picked up an icecream and then headed back home.

Tuesday, we headed down to Torrox Costa, where we stopped at the German bar for a schnitzel. Can't beat a schnitzel.

Wednesday, we walked into Nerja, as we wanted to do a recee for a walk up into the mountains. We stopped for a fish lunch, which was very delicious. We then caught the bus back.

So Thursday, we caught the bus to Nerja and then picked up the trail that took us up into Frigliani. The trail followed the river bed and up through a gorge. We then had a steep climb up
into the village. It's a typical pretty, white housed, mountain village. We've not been here for a number of years. Naturally, we stopped for some lunch, which was excellent. Really good food. We then had a wander around, picked up an icecream and then caught the bus back to Torrox via Nerja. A long and tiring day, but very enjoyable.

Friday we met up with Brian and Jane and walked along the prom. On our way back, we stopped for breakfast. It was lovely to see them and catch up with them but tomorrow, we are on the move. It looks like the weather is cooling a bit, with rain and possible red dust. Also with Easter coming up soon, trying to find somewhere is quite difficult as everywhere gets so busy, as you can imagine. So we've decided to head to the mountains. We're going somewhere new, Velez Blanco, 1000m high in the hills, so we are preparing ourselves for cold weather.
