It's February, so we must be in Spain - Navajas, Feb 2024 😎

Arrived Thursday 8th February in Navajas, our usual first stop. Tony & Rita were already here and had cooked a lovely dinner for us in the evening. It was great to see them and catch up with them. Sadly, they lost Zac, their lovely dog, on the way here and it was a very sad occasion.

On Friday 9th Feb, we took a stroll down to the waterfalls and along the path, as it was a nice sunny day. Saturday 10th Feb Rita wasn't feeling too well so only Tony joinned us for a walk up the hills, through the almond groves and down to the resevoir. It was really noticeable that there really is a water shortage here. The resevoir was very low indeed.

Sunday, Steve, Tony and I walked along the river to Segorbe, the next town from Navajas. Again it was a lovely day. This is a very pleasant and easy walk up and into the town. We stopped here for some tapas and a couple of beers and then headed back to Navajas.

Monday we caught the train to Valencia. When we arrived, we stop for a light breakfast and then headed through the old town down to the old river bed which has been turned into a park and strolled through this until we came to the beach area where all the seafood restaurants are. We stopped here for some lunch and then strolled back to the station and caught the train home. An enjoyable day but unfortunately Rita and Steve are both feeling a bit poorly now.
Monday was a long day, so we rested on Tuesday, but Tony and Rita were moving on further south on Wednesday, so we went out for dinner that evening. We will be catching up with them next week.

After saying goodbye to Tony & Rita on Wednesday, Steve and I did a shortish walk that took us up to the hills and back down onto the via verde.

Thursday we walked to Jerica along the via verde, the next town in the opposite direction. We stopped here for some tapas and then walked along the river, that was virtully dry, and looped back to pick up the via verde. Whilst walking through the wooded area we saw some wild goats, yes, these are goats and not deer. There were quite a number of them and didn't seem too bothered by us.
Friday was a bit of an easy day after our walk yesterday, so we just strolled along the via verde. Came across a shepherd tending to his sheep and goats.

Saturday we went up into the hills to avoid the crowds, and managed not to see a single person, which to be honest, isn't that difficult here. We did their fountains walk, which has a few fresh water springs that follow the river and also the lavedas. A most enjoyable walk.

Sunday we walked to Segorbe again and had brunch as the usual bar/restaurant that we tend to go to when there. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant at the campsite. Tomorrow we are moving on.

Total miles walked in and around Navajas 73.76 miles.
