Javea - 20th ~ 27th March

Image
Monday 20th, we were up bright and early and off through the orange groves to catch the bus to Denia. Once at Denia, we walked to the base of Montgo and started our walk around the mountain. It's a steady uphill to begin with and then levels out as you pass around the mountain, always keeping the sea to your left. It was a pleasant day and we met quite a few people surprisingly. We eventually arrived in Javea and then descended down into the old town and back through the orange groves to camp. Our friends, Lesley & Rob arrived today and so we met up with them down on the seafront for a drink and then some tapas. Hurrah, BBQ wednesdays are back on 😊. Tuesday we took it easy after our walk yesterday and just pottered around going for a stroll along the seafront early afternoon. Wednesday we strolled round to Rob & Lesleys. It was a glorious day for a BBQ. We had a great feast, as we always do, then when the sun went low, we headed inside and got the cards out. What a great...

Javea ~ 14th - 20th March

Tuesday 14th March, we decided to cycle to Granadella. It was a lovely day and the cycle ride, whilst beautiful is somewhat taxing especially if you've not cycled recently. It is a gradual uphill ride with the final 3k in a whirl of down hill freewheeling. As we descended to the beach, the scent from the pine trees, wild rosemary and other fauna was lovely. We arrived at the beach, settled down and had a picnic lunch and just relaxed for a while. We always go for a wonder along the little paths that straddle the cove. It's so lovely here. Wednesday, we decided to do a gentle walk, up to the chapel at the top of the hill in town. It gives a nice view over Javea and out to sea. After this, we strolled to the food market and had lunch there, then ambled back along the front. In the evening we went to a, new to us, Chinese restaurant with John & Pat, Steve & Vicki. We had a lovely evening, great food and company 😊. Thursday, we decided to do the lighthouse walk again. Yuc...

Javea ~ 6th - 13th March

Image
We arrived late in the afternoon on the Monday and straight away met up with a number of friends we have met here over the years, which was lovely. Steve and Marina had also arrived a little bit before us, although they were not around when we arrived. After setting up, we headed off into town to get something to eat. The first restaurant we came to, which happened to be an Indian, Steve and Marina were in. So we joined them for dinner. I mean it had been a whole 2 or 3 days since we'd last seen them 😄. Tuesday, we popped round to see John and Pat and then headed off into town just to have a wander and see what's new. We took a stroll down to the sea front and stopped for a little drink and tapas and met up with Steve and Marina.  Wednesday we met up with Steve and Marina and went to the old town, via the orange groves, to the indoor market bar for lunch. After this we headed to the port area where we stopped off at The Corner bar and then walked back to camp. Later, we met ...

Nerja - Feb/March 2023

Image
We arrived Nerja to a new site. Normally we stay in Torrox, but this year we decided to try this site out. It's closer to our friends Brian and Jane and makes going to Nerja a lot easier. As it happens, our friends, Steve & Marina arrived the same day as us. So we decided to walk to a local restaurant for dinner that Monday evening. And a jolly nice restaurant it was too. Tuesday, after breakfast at the campsite cafe, we walked along the beach into Nerja, which is a pretty place with lots of narrow streets full of white washed buildings. We stopped for some lunch at the Balcon de Europa. It was very busy as it was a public holiday and a vast majority of the locals had all met and did the community cycle ride, all ages on varying types of bikes, one even sat 5 or maybe 6 people. They certainly love to have fun as a community and as a family. Wednesday we caught up with Brian and Jane. It was great to see them again. They picked us up and we headed off to Torrox Costa, where we w...

El Pinoso, Alicante

Image
So we arrived at Pinoso, a small town in the middle of nowhere really. We are right on the border of Mercier and Alancante with the Sierra de la Carche right on our doorstep. Across the plains, all we can see around us are mountains. There are a lot of vines here as well as the usual olive trees and almonds. The first two days we headed into town, which was quite a walk. The town is small but has the essentials, you know, shops, bars and restaurants. We did stop at a lovely place, what we thought was a tapas bar, but oh my goodness, it wasn't. It was a beautiful restaurant but they let us have a table. The food really was wonderful. The staff very friendly and so proud of their food. Thursday saw the arrival of Tony, Rita and Zac. Once they had settled, we had a late lunch and just took the opportunity to catch up. Sadly Rita wasn't feeling too good, so the next day she opted to stay at home with Zac, whilst we went out exploring with Tony. We followed a track which led to the ...
