SPAIN ~ Navajas, February 2023

So here we are again. After a smooth crossing and catching up with friends on the ferry over, we arrived Santander early Sunday morning, to 17°, blue sky, calm sea and mountains in the background. Just perfect. 

We quickly made our way to Navajas, our usual first stop where we had a great week walking
most days and just enjoying the slow pace of life. 

As you can see the blossom is just starting to come out and it is very beautiful and smells lovely.

We had a great walk along the river to Segorbe, where we stopped for Tapas, the first of our trip. As always, very enjoyable. This is a lovely bar which we came to last year with Tony, Rita and Zac.


We also managed a cycle ride along the Via Verde to Jerica and beyond. Didn't do too many miles, but enough to get our cycle legs working.


The finale was a 15 mile circular walk, that we did do for the first time a couple of years ago. It was great bur exhausting as we are up quite high and the climb up was quite steep in parts.

Off now to our next location  where we will later in the week Tony, Rita and Zac will be joining us 😁


























































































































































































Naturally, we stopped for tapas on occasions. We cycled as well to Jerica one day stopping for a picnic lunch just outside of the village.

Granada 3rd - 10th March

  So here we are in Granada. We are about 10 miles outside of the city, up in the Guejar Sierra. This is the view from our campsite, looking over the mountains, some of which still have snow on the top. It's surprisingly wam here for this time of year. Normally, the weather has been either too cold or wet, or both!  We are here for a week to do some walking. This is a new site for us, although we have in the past visited Granada itself. It's pretty remote here, with not a lot going on other than lots of goats everywhere. That makes me happy. It's pretty quiet too but thankfully the site has a mini shop and a bar with restaurant, which has an open log fire 😊. Tuesday we decided to visit the local viallage, taking the scenic route there, which meant going up and around and dropping into the village walking down to the main square. Navajas ~ 6th - 17th February 2025

So here we are again. Our first stop off the ferry. It's a littlle cooler than usual, but hey, the sun is shinning and it's great to be here again. We've met up with our friends, Marina & Steve. It was planned, but we literally pulled up right behind them. Couldn't plan that if you tried. So of course once we got ourselves settled, we headed for the restaurant for food and wine! Friday, a leisurely stroll to the waterfalls and on towards Segorbe, stopping at the ford. It was a pleasant stroll and just nice to get out in some warm weather. Saturday, we walked up behind the campsite. It's a bit of a struggle to get to the top, but we took our time and got there. We followed the route through orchards full of blossom and down to the resevoir, which is a lot fuller than it was last year. We then followed the laveda walk back into Navajas. A lovely walk. Haro - April 2025

So here we are, our last stop before catching the ferry home. It's a long drive here, so we arrived quite late, but as soon as we got ourselves sorted, we were off out up into the square to stretch our legs and get something to eat. Naturally, we went to our favourite bar here, Bar Beethoven. You know what, it's great when you turn up a year later and you get a warm reception. We were told that we are now regulars 😊. Tuesday we decided to take it a bit easy and so we took a stroll along the river to the next village, Brinas but unfortunately they were working on the bridge, so we turned around and picked up the via verde in the other direction, following the river still. We had a very pleasant walk. The water levels here are certainly high. We know that Spain has had a very wet winter and fortunately, we've managed to avoid a lot of the rain, just had a couple of wet days on the trot, mind you, they were seriously wet days, raining non stop.
