Last week in Jávea
So Monday 7th March and we were in for a day of rain. We did manage during a slight lull to pop over to John & Pat's for a cuppa and a chat.
Tuesday turned out to be quite a sunny day, so we met up with Rob and Lesley and headed off to the bar in the market for some lunch. We had also arranged to meet up with some of the crowd from the ICA. Both Steve's were cajoled into trying sea urchins, which are served up raw, with a dash of lemon. Actually they didn't taste as dreadful as you thought they would. So nothing really to write home about. After lunch we headed back to Rob and Lesley's for a quick game of cards, hurrah, I actually won at Dirty Liz. We quickly headed back home and then met up again with Rob & Lesley, John & Pat, Vicki & Steve and Jean & Pete at the Wok buffet for dinner. A very enjoyable day.
Wednesday 9th March Steve and I cycled to Granadella. This is a great cycle ride in that it's up hill all the way until to drop down into the bay, however, the down side is you have a hard slog to the top, but then, it's down hill again all the way down to Jávea. On our way up, we did bump into Rob out on his bike, so we stopped for a chat and got our breath back. When we got there, it was peaceful and quiet. We always take a picnic lunch with us and sit on the beach and just enjoy the beauty of it all. We keep telling ourselves one day we will snorkel here.
Thursday we decided to do the lighthouse walk again. We stopped in the old town for some breakfast before heading off and up. It was a lovely sunny day with very little breeze. Once we got back down, we stopped off at the Corner bar for a coffee and tapas and then headed on back to camp.
Friday we went to Rob & Lesley's for the day, where we played boules, which we yet again lost at and then had a BBQ, followed by Dirty Liz. A real fun day, most enjoyable.
Saturday we headed off, with Rob & Lesley to the market bar for lunch and then headed down to the Corner bar. Steve and I then headed off to the Irish bar to watch the rugby. Need I say more.....We met up with the ICA folk here and also some of the guys from our campsite***. Despite the result, it was a really great atmosphere in the pub, with a real mix of fans there. After the game we went with the ICA guys for an Indian. A very enjoyable day and evening, despite the final result.
Sunday, in the morning we started preparing for our departure tomorrow as rain is due early in the morning. ***The guys from our campsite who were in the Irish bar yesterday, Kev, Brian and Terry kindly gave me a Six Nations tournament shirt. How kind of them was that. Mind you they did have to drink a lot of Guinness to obtain it. I'll say no more😄. We then had a late lunch with John, Pat, Pete and Jean, which was really enjoyable and very relaxing.
So Monday we're off to Torrox. We plan to say only a week and no more, haha this is where we were locked down 2 years ago! So watch this space.........
