Harrogate ~ Sept 2021

We're here for a week. So on Friday we took a stroll into Harrogate and had a wander around the town. Saturday we did a lovely bike ride to Wetherby, which was mainly off road on an old rail track. Great ride through woods, pretty villages and open countryside. Stopped for tea and cake naturally!

Sunday we decided to walk to Knaresborough. It was a beautiful sunny day as we strolled into Harrogate and then picked up the path to Knaresborough, eventually following the river into the town. We stopped here for a spot of lunch and then took an alternative route back, thus making it a 9 mile circular walk.

On Monday our friends, Lesley and Rob, whom we spent a few months in Spanish lockdown with, arrived. Tuesday we strolled into Harrogate for a stroll around Harrogate Valley Gardens. They had a beautiful display of dahlias, not that were into them, but the display was eye catching with so many unusual varieties. After a coffee stop, we headed back into the heart of Harrogate to find a 'craft beer' pub for Rob and also get a bite to eat. Unfortunately, it chucked it down with rain as we were leaving and we were soaked by the time we got back to camp.

Thursday we did a circular walk into Knaresborough, where we walked along the river and up into the town and stopped for coffee. We then walked back through the castle ruins and down to the river again and onwards to Harrogate where we stopped for some lunch.

In the evenings, we played cards, just to relive our lockdown times in the bungalow in Spain. Very entertaining, especially when Lesley and I won the first two games, much to the dismay of Rob and Steve! It was great to see them and catch up. We are now all looking forward to Spain next year 😎.
