Haro, Rioja region - April 2022

We arrived late afternoon in Haro, home to Rioja. We've not been here for 3 years, so we got straight to it, walking to the main square to stretch our legs after a long journey and get something to eat in the Piano Bar as it is fondly known as. When the sun is shining Haro can be a great place, but when it's not, it can seem a bit drab. Let's hope the sun will come out for us, for the remainder of our trip. On Friday, the promise of some sun and warmer weather got us out and walking along the river Ebro to the quaint village  BriƱas,  sitting on it's banks. We followed the path as far as we could go and then stopped in the village for a coffee. We had a wander around and then headed back to Haro. We were hoping to be able to visit one of the bodegas for a tour and tasting session, but the one we wanted to visit was all booked up until after we've gone. Nevermind, we'll book in advance next year. We've done one before and it's a great way to spend a dull ...

Cullera

We arrived at a place called Cullera, on the coast, just south of Valencia. This is a new location for us and was all rather exciting for two reasons really, one somewhere new to explore and two, to get some sun! It's quite a built up area with a number of high rise buildings on the seafront, however, the backdrop is mountains and then the plains where the rice fields are. There is a good long prom with a few bars that were open, but generally most places here are shut, although a few more did open at the weekend. Along the coast you can naturally see Valencia, but also down to Montgo. That beast of a mountain is always there!.  Whilst It is quiet here, it is mostly all Spanish people here. So our first day we picked up a trail just outside the campsite and started climbing up to the top which gave us fabulous views out over the sea and inland to the mountains behind.
